2020年3月11日，世界卫生组织宣布2019冠状病毒疫情已构成全球大流行。美国的医务人员正面临着个人防护用品紧缺的情况。
美国中国总商会和总商会基金会第一时间联系各方资源，购买符合要求的医疗物资捐赠给当地的公立医院。
与此同时，在会员企业的大力支持下，总商会整理汇总了来自中国的医疗物资货源清单，并将信息分享给更多有需要的医院、政府和相关机构。
截至3月24日，总商会已确认捐赠新泽西州的一家公立医院：Jersey City Medical Center，并正在与纽约市Bellevue Hospital Center建立联系。
同时，也在积极协助纽约州和康涅狄格州政府从中国购买医疗物资，与美国多个州政府的联系人分享物资信息。
