
NEW YORK, NY, September 10, 2015 – The opening ceremony of the month-long “The Pursuit of Dreams” & “Dream Journey” Photo Exhibition was successfully held at the Fosun International Building in lower Manhattan this Thursday. The exhibition was hosted by China General Chamber of Commerce – U.S.A. (CGCC), China Railway Rolling Stock Corporation (CRRC) and Fosun International Limited. This event is also one of the series activities of CGCC’s 10th anniversary celebration.
At the beginning of the ceremony, Mr. Xu Chen, Chairman of CGCC and President & CEO of Bank of China U.S.A., expressed his warm welcome to all distinguished guests including business leaders and government representatives. He later on gave introduction about this event, and said, “Today’s photo exhibition reflects the development of China-U.S. economic relations, which also demonstrates CGCC’s mission and determination to further facilitate bilateral economic and commercial activities.”
Mr. Guo Guangchang, Chairman of Fosun Group, delivered the welcoming remarks. He mentioned that “Fosun is like many other multilateral corporations showed in the photo exhibition, embracing any opportunities that lead to mutually beneficial and win-win solutions.” He wished today’s event will further strengthen the will of companies of both countries to invest and cooperate.
Then, Ambassador Zhang Qiyue, Consul-General of the PRC in New York delivered opening remarks. Ambassador Zhang announced the launch of the photo exhibition, and encouraged all attendees to look back to the historical moments in the China-U.S. relation through the precious photos and said, “The economic relations between China and the United States is playing an increasingly important role in the overall diplomatic relations. Although China has slowed its annual GDP growth to around 7%, its contribution to the world’s economy is still large.” In her address, she also appreciated the effective platform CGCC has provided to better facilitate a better China-U.S. economic relation.
Then, CGCC proudly presented its 10th anniversary video, which reflected the growth and achievement of the member companies in the passing decade.
The keynote speech was delivered by Ms. Kathy Hochul, Lieutenant Governor of the State of New York. Ms. Hochul pointed out that “Bilateral economic development is important, but any type of economic relations is personal relations. I believe people in New York State will continue to build friendship and trust with its partners in China.” At the end of her speech, she expressed her sincere and utmost blessing on the success of the photo exhibition and the steady advancement of CGCC in the next decade.
In the following section, all the guests watched the CRRC introductory video. After the screening, Mr. Yu Weiping, the Vice President of CRRC, introduced the recent investment of CRRC in Boston, and expressed their willingness to get involved in more high-speed rail constructions in the United States.
The exhibition consists of three parts, Sino-U.S. Relation – High-profile Visits, Chinese Enterprises in the U.S., and Cultural Exchanges. After the opening ceremony, all the guests viewed and appreciated the 100 photos at the exhibition and based on which, reflected on political, economic and cultural developments between the two countries.
