On the eve of the traditional Mid-Autumn Festival, China General Chamber of Commerce – Washington DC Chapter (CGCC-DC) hosted the Annual Mid-Autumn Festival gathering in Arlington, Virginia. Nearly one hundred representatives from CGCC member companies and partner organizations gathered at “Top of The Town” to celebrate CGCC-DC’s accomplishments and the holiday.

The event’s esteemed guests included, Mr. Zhu Hong, the Minister for Commercial Affairs from the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China, Mr. Xu Tan, CGCC Vice Chairman, CGCC-DC Chairman and President of China Telecom Americas, Mr. Bob Holden, United States Heartland China Association Chairman and CEO and former Governor of Missouri, Mr. Benjamin H. Wu, Deputy Secretary of the Maryland Department of Commerce, and Ms. Karima Woods, Director of Business Development and Strategy at Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development (D.C. Government), Vice Presidents of CGCC-DC, Mr. Zhenge Zhao, Mr. He Sun and Mr. Tong Zhang also attended the event.
Mr. Xu Tan, CGCC Vice Chairman, CGCC-DC Chairman, and President of China Telecom Americas gave welcoming remarks at the event. “Despite the headwind, the Chinese business community in the US remains active”, expressed Mr. Tan. In his remarks, Mr. Tan also highlighted CGCC-DC’s major accomplishments from 2019 and expressed his sincerest appreciation to members and partners for their support.
At dinner,
Minister Zhu Hong encouraged all who care deeply about the China-US economic
exchange to remain optimistic and confident, especially at the significant time
of the 70th Anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of
China, and the 40th Anniversary of China-US Diplomatic Relations. He
stated that “the China-US trade relationship will have a bright and clear
future if we affirm our partnerships, manage our differences and develop
together.”
Governor Bob
Holden also gave remarks at the celebration, sharing with guests his personal
experience and demonstrated the promising potential of US-China cooperation in
trade, education, and culture through humorous anecdotes. Following Governor
Holden’s remarks, Deputy Secretary Benjamin H. Wu and Director Karima Woods
applauded the economic contributions that CGCC and Chinese businesses have made
to the State of Maryland and District of Columbia and welcomed future
investment.
The Annual
Mid-Autumn Festival is a CGCC-DC tradition that promotes communication, celebrates
friendships, and acknowledges and appreciates member companies and partners for
their support to CGCC-DC. This year the event was again filled with joy and
passion. In tradition with the Mid-Autumn festival, attendees admired the moon and
toasted to a hopeful China-US trade relationship, one as bright as the full
moon.
