“Since 2015, China General Chamber of Commerce has been honored to partner with SelectUSA in support of Chinese investment in the United States. We are very excited that both the summit and our reception is back in person after three long years, and we are very grateful to be able to safely hold this event in person and have so many of both our old and new friends in attendance,”  said Mr. Wei HU, CGCC Chairman, President & CEO, of Bank of China U.S.A during his opening remarks.

Following Minister Xu’s remarks was a presentation from Virgilio Bisio, Commercial Officer of SelectUSA (Global Markets) at the U.S. Department of Commerce (International Trade Administration). Having come straight from the four-day-long SelectUSA Investment Summit, Bisio encouraged further Chinese investment in the U.S., “Based on my conversations with Chinese companies during the SelectUSA summit and the results of CGCC’s survey, I think that Chinese businesses continue to see significant market opportunities in the United States,” said Bisio.

The program concluded with an animated panel discussion featuring Mr. Pin NI, Vice-Chair of CGCC, and President of Wanxiang America Corporation (Panel moderator), Admiral Dennis C. Blair,  Former United States Director of National Intelligence, and Governor Martin O'Malley, Former Governor of Maryland.

The panel gave attendees the unique opportunity to hear from two former U.S. government officials and their perspectives on Chinese investment in the U.S. and U.S.-China relations.  Through various personal anecdotes, Governor O'Malley and Admiral Blair both emphasized the importance of cooperation and the building of trust between the two peoples and its importance in breaking down barriers and strengthening the overall bilateral relationship.
