IMG_6698May 31, 2014 – China General Chamber of Commerce successfully held the 2014 5th Annual Table Tennis Invitational tournament at the Lily Yip Table Tennis Center in New Jersey. Of the participants included eleven CGCC member companies, including China United Nations Representatives, Xinhua News Agency, The Chinese Consulate General New York Branch, and Peoples Bank of China Americas among others. In total, sixty players participated in the tournament.

Players arrived at the facilities at noon on May 31. After several rounds of warming up, Minister Counselor of the Permanent Mission of China to the United Nations, Xie Xiaowu announced the beginning of the competition.
After five hours, the top three doubles winners and singles winners were decided. Cosco Americas came out on top of the doubles bracket. China Construction America took the runner-up place and Chinese representatives to the United Nations along with the Chinese Consulate General tied for third place.

IMG_6450In the singles bracket, 10 year old Matthew Lu became the singles champion. Cosco representative Xu Yinsheng took 2nd place, while CCB representative Kong Delin and Xinhua representative tied for the bronze medal.

After the game, China's Consulate General in New York representative Xie Gong, economic and commercial Counsellor Liu Yi, the Xinhua News Agency North American headquarters and social care country Director, United States China General Chamber of Commerce President Yuan Ning, Han Zhuo and Niu Ke proudly awarded the trophies.
IMG_6469CGCC’s Annual Table Tennis Invitational began in 2009 and has now been successfully held for five consecutive years. This event provides a platform for communication between member companies. This year, invitations were extended across the United States to member companies in Washington D.C., Houston, and San Francisco. CGCC is proud to continue this rich tradition, as it looks forward to next year’s event!
