More than 100 representatives from CGCC member companies and the press participated and celebrated the Moon Festival together.

Chairman Xu expressed special thanks to all the members for their support to CGCC throughout the year. He said, Moon Festival in China is very similar to Thanksgiving in the US. It is a chance for families and friends to reunion, celebrate the harvest together and give thanks for the help and support we have received from each other. We are grateful for the continued cooperation and support from all our members and friends. And to provide better services for our members, CGCC kicks-off the “China-US Culture and Business Etiquette” Series today, to help our members develop insight into the local business culture and social etiquette, to avoid misunderstandings that could hurt business deals and harm working relationships. Vice Chairman Bo Wei extended warm welcome to Consul General Zhang Qiyue and all CGCC members to Fosun 28 Liberty to celebrate the Moon Festival.

Consul General Zhang Qiyue extended her sincere greetings to all the guests. Moon Festival is the day for family reunion and CGCC is the big family that facilitates win-win cooperation between Chinese and American business communities.

Consul General Zhang Qiyue said, the four high-level dialogue mechanisms established between China and the United States help promote bilateral relationship. One of the mechanism is US-China Social and Cultural Dialogue (SCD). Chinese Vice Premier Liu Yandong and US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson successfully co-chaired the first SCD on September 28, 2017. In fact, CGCC “China-US Culture and Business Etiquette” Series can also be regarded as part of the dialogue. In order to facilitate business exchanges between the two countries, it is very important to understand and respect the similarities and differences of the two cultures.

Consul General Zhang Qiyue emphasized, a sound and stable China-US relationship not only serves the fundamental interests of both countries, but also meets global expectations. Business communities of both countries shall recognize the great potential of cooperation and continue working together to deepen the bilateral economic and trade cooperation between China and US.

During the Kick-off session, Analyst of China Momentum Fund of Fosun Group Ethan Zeiger, Partner of Littler Mendelson Philip Berkowitz, and Executive Director of American Mandarin Society Nathaniel Ahrens shared their interesting stories of living and working in China and the cultural nuances they experienced in terms of Chinese and US business etiquettes.
