On September 6th, China General Chamber of Commerce-USA (CGCC) hosted Lunch and Learn: “The good, the bad and the ugly in commercial leasing” at CGCC’s New York City office. CGCC was honored to invite Brian Weld, the Executive Managing Director of Cushman & Wakefield, as speaker of the lunch event.

During his presentation, Mr. Weld introduced CGCC members to Cushman & Wakefield and emphasized the company’s dedication to its clients through the company's use of market research and attention to the comprehensive dimensions and details of the global market.

After introducing the company and its services, Mr. Weld discussed the various challenges Chinese enterprises in the U.S. have encountered in the commercial leasing market and the ways a company might overcome these challenges. He explained that two major challenges faced by many Chinese companies include being overcharged and the situation in which a company’s business strategies are not aligned with their real estate strategies. To combat these challenges, Mr. Weld described that it is necessary for a company to start negotiations early and to assemble a good team to represent the company.

Mr. Weld’s team members, Steven C. Rockefeller III and Jennifer Song, elaborated on Mr. Weld's remarks by also sharing their experiences and insights working with Chinese companies and Chinese investors who have strong interests in the U.S. real estate market.

CGCC graciously thanks Cushman & Wakefield along with the following CGCC members and partners who attended the event and exchanged their insights: Bank of China, BDO USA LLP, Brio Benefits Consulting, China CITIC Bank International, China Southern Airlines Co, Ltd., CTBC Bank, EY, HNA Group North America, HSBC, Junzi Kitchen, Polsinelli, Signature Bank, SMI, Stifel, Xin Development Management, Xinhua News Agency North America, Xu Consulting Engineering, Hongdou New York and CAC Optical.
