On August 22, China General Chamber of Commerce - USA (CGCC) hosted 2019 Summer New Members Welcome Reception and Legal & Policy Series #14: “Introduction to Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Know Your Rights” at the Bank of China Building in New York. Nearly 100 representatives from CGCC member companies came together to welcome CGCC’s new members.

XU Chen, Chairman of CGCC, President and CEO of Bank of China USA gave a warm welcome to CGCC’s new members. During his remarks, Chairman Xu encouraged CGCC members to work together to strengthen China-U.S. business cooperation. He explained that “working together, China and the United States will greatly benefit the Chinese and American peoples and continue to power the global economy and trade. After all, China and the U.S. contribute to 40% of the world’s GDP every year”.

Alexandre Chenesseau, Vice President at Evercore Partners, a new CGCC member company, thanked CGCC and other member companies for the warm welcome and showed his appreciation in joining this organization. He then introduced the main businesses of Evercore and his story relating to China. Mr. Chenesseau believes that China-U.S. business relations will develop on a positive side, especially with the joint efforts of all CGCC members.

Prior to the reception, the 14th CGCC Legal and Policy Series event was conducted by Claiborne (Clay) Porter, Partner at Squire Patton and Boggs, and Daniel Hunter, Managing Director at Prosek Partners. The two experts discussed the ways in which CGCC members can better manage the risks relating to U.S. border searches during international travels, and how to manage a company's reputational risk.
