CGCC Foundation sponsored the signature Kunqu Opera show of “Peony Pavilion” on June 10. CGCC members enjoyed this fantastic performance and spent a delightful weekend afternoon with elegant art. The show was part of the “Cultural Kaleidoscope Festival” hosted by the Hudson Guild and organized by New York Chinese Opera Society.

Kunqu Opera stands as the oldest extant genre of Chinese opera with 600 years of history. It is listed as one of the masterpieces of "the oral and intangible heritage of humanity" by UNESCO (the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) in 2001. The performance was cast by the artist Ms. Qian Yi, who was acclaimed by New York Times as “China’s reigning opera princess.” Sponsoring this show, CGCC Foundation made active contributions to the communication of traditional Chinese art in the United States.

Established in 2014, CGCC Foundation is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization. The mission of CGCC Foundation is to deepen mutual understanding and cooperation between the United States and China through research, public charity and engagement in economic, cultural and social exchanges.
