New York – June 27th, 2026– The China General Chamber of Commerce – USA Foundation (“CGCC Foundation") successfully hosted a family education dialogue at the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) New York Branch. The event, themed "Psychological Wisdom and Resilience Education in Family Education," gathered over 40 CGCC members and friends for an informative afternoon.
Jianyu Zhang, Chair of CGCC, CEO of ICBC U.S. Region, delivered welcome remarks
The event featured Professor Xiaodong Lin, a renowned expert in cognitive science and educational psychology from Teachers College, Columbia University, as the keynote speaker. Centered on the theme, "What do children really need beyond material abundance?,”Professor Lin elaborated on children’s psychological needs, emotional management, and how to cultivate resilience, providing parents with scientific and practical educational concepts and methods. The lecture also examined the deeper question of family legacy—what should truly be passed on to future generations and how to do so effectively—sparking thoughtful discussions on values, character, and intergenerational inheritance.
After the keynote session, the event included two parallel breakout sessions. The first breakout session continued the in-depth discussion on psychological wisdom and children's emotional management in family education. The second breakout session, themed "Before and After College Admission in the U.S.: Anxieties and Strategies in the AI Era," explored the new trends in college applications and strategies for academic collaboration after enrollment, offering students and parents insights into the challenges and coping strategies of college students in the AI era.
Following a CGCC member company visit and career development event for NYU Stern–NYU Shanghai M.S. students on June 16th, this family education program marked another milestone in the CGCC Foundation's ongoing efforts to support the well-being and development of the U.S.-China business community and their families. By expanding its programming from career development to family education, the Foundation continues to respond to the evolving needs of the community.
