November 4, 2018 – China General Chamber of Commerce – USA (CGCC) and CGCC Foundation volunteer team volunteered at the TCS New York City Marathon.
The TCS New York City Marathon, started in 1970, is one of the largest and most popular charity marathons in the world. As one of world’s major marathon competitions, over 100,000 runners have participated in the race on peak race day. Spanning 26.2 miles, the track of the marathon crosses through all 5 boroughs of New York City. The race begins at Staten Island, crosses through Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, and ends in Manhattan’s Central Park. Over the course of the race, participants run through New York City’s major avenues, streets, and bridges.
This year, more than 50,000 runners from all around the world participated in the race where the average length of race completion was 4 hours 39 minutes.
At this year’s marathon, CGCC and CGCC Foundation volunteer team members set – up and served water to hundreds of competitors at the race’s 24 mile mark, 2 miles from the finish line.
