On June 20, the China General Chamber of Commerce-USA (CGCC) and CGCC Foundation hosted the 2018 Annual Member Meeting in Washington DC. Approximately 80 representatives of CGCC member companies in different industries across the United States attended the meeting.
During the meeting, Xu Chen, the Chairman of CGCC, presented the work report for 2017 and the first half of 2018. He introduced membership development, shared the progress of CGCC events and projects, and highlighted efforts to facilitate US-China business communication under the intensifying trade friction between China and the US. He also introduced new services and products available to CGCC members such as CGCC Today’s Headlines, CGCC Insights, and the CGCC US-China Investment Cooperation Database. Jiao Chengyue, the CGCC Treasurer, presented the financial report for 2017. Zhang Dandan, representative of CGCC-Los Angeles, Jiang Chun, Chairman of CGCC-Washington DC, Zhang Wenyue, representative of CGCC-Chicago, and Liu Lingyi, representative of CGCC-Houston shared the progress being made by each of their regional offices.
The meeting also elected 15 members as CGCC Board of Directors, among which 8 members were newly added to the Board. CGCC welcomes the following new board members.
The meeting discussed the work plan for the second half of 2018. Representatives from member companies contributed ideas for CGCC’s next area of focus. They proposed that with Chinese businesses operating in the US currently under strict government supervision, member companies should use CGCC as a platform to establish stronger connections and share their experiences with each other. Chinese businesses operating in the US should emphasize compliance, and actively promote the positive image of Chinese businesses through exchanges with the US federal and state governments, as well as cooperation with US businesses and media outlets.
From June to September, CGCC Foundation will hold a multimedia contest which invites American families to share their stories with Chinese businesses operating in the US. The winning family will have the opportunity to win a trip to China and experience Chinese culture. We welcome all of your support for this exciting contest!
CGCC warmly congratulates all the newly elected board members. We look forward to the joint efforts that will help us grow stronger and we will continue to improve our services for CGCC members.
