Since the start of the Coronavirus outbreak in Wuhan, hospitals throughout the city have been facing a shortage of face masks and crucial medical supplies. To support doctors battling at the frontlines of the deadly virus outbreak, China General Chamber of Commerce – USA (CGCC) Foundation has appropriated $30,000 to purchase surgical-grade masks and other essential medical supplies to donate to hospitals in Wuhan as part of its ongoing Wuhan Medical Supply Donation Effort.

CGCC and CGCC Foundation sincerely thanks its member company SF Express, China Southern Airlines, and Hainan Airlines for sponsoring international transportation. 

Donation Effort Update: 

As of February 2nd, 2020 at 18:00 pm EST (February 3rd, 7:00 am Beijing time), CGCC Foundation has raised a total of $101,650.04 (about ¥705,451.28, exchange rate 6.94. These include $30,000 from CGCC Foundation, $57,900 donation, and $13,750.04 equivalent of supply donation)

The total value of supplies raised by CGCC-Los Angeles is $10,414.74 (about ¥72,278.3, exchange rate 6.94), a total of 14,601 pieces. 

The total amount raised by CGCC-Houston is $56,600 (about ¥392,804, exchange rate 6.94).

Donation Effort Progress Timeline Update:

January 23rd – CGCC Foundation started its Wuhan Medical Supply Donation Effort, welcoming its member companies to donate urgently needed medical supplies.     

January 31st – The first batch of donated medical supplies left CGCC’s office in New York for Wuhan via CGCC member company SF Express

February 1st – New York supplies cleared customs. Los Angeles supplies were sent to China via China Southern Airlines.

February 2nd – New York supplies took off.

February 3rd – New York supplies landed in Guangzhou, waiting for customs clearance. Los Angeles supplies landed in Guangzhou.

CGCC-Los Angeles sent 5700 surgical face masks, 987 sets of protective coveralls, 2000 pairs of medical gloves, and sanitizing wipes to China via China Southern Airlines.
