NEW YORK, December 27th, 2021 – CGCC Foundation donated $15,000 to the SOS International (SOS) headquarters in Louisville, KY to help support the immediate needs and long-term recovery for families and communities in Western Kentucky impacted by the devastation from the recent tornado.
“We want to thank all of the first responders for their ongoing efforts on the scene. Our thoughts and concerns are with the victims, their loved ones, and everyone who has been impacted by the storm’s path across the U.S.,” said Chen XU, Chairman of CGCC, President and CEO of Bank of China USA. “CGCC Foundation is continuing to provide support to our friends and neighbors in the area and across the communities affected to help make it through this dire situation.”
The donation was made to SOS, a global health non-profit founded in 1993 to meet critical health care needs in medically impoverished communities around the world. “On behalf of our entire team, and the many people of Kentucky that we are serving during this tragic time, THANK YOU! We are incredibly grateful for this generous support which will be tremendously helpful in funding this important and critical work,” said Denise Sears, President and CEO of SOS International.
CGCC Foundation’s donation to SOS was made possible through the Foundation’s Disaster Relief Fund which was established in 2017 to support disaster relief efforts and reconstruction in Texas after Hurricane Harvey.
In 2020, CGCC Foundation worked with SOS to purchase critical PPEs and support short-supplied hospitals through its Medical Supply Donation and Information Sharing Effort. “The timely support of the CGCC positioned SOS to prepare and donate wheelchairs, walkers and critically needed first aid supplies”, said Vivek Sarin, Founder and CEO of Juvo Company, a long-time supporter of CGCC and its mission.
CGCC Foundation sincerely thanks Mr. Sarin for his enthusiastic help in establishing and sustaining the CGCC and SOS partnership, and SOS for its tireless work providing life-saving support to families in need throughout Kentucky.
