
CGCC Automotive Committee Hosts First Forum in Detroit
November 14, 2013 -- CGCC Automotive Committee hosted its first forum in Detroit on November 11, 2013. CGCC Associate Members Foley & Lardner LLP and Deloitte LLP sponsored the event.
Leading the meeting was Mr. Yi Lu, President of SAIC USA, Inc. and Chair of CGCC Automotive Committee who introduced the theme of the summit: Innovate to Thrive – How Chinese Companies Can Succeed in the U.S.
The Forum was held to allow members and guests of the CGCC an opportunity to discuss important topics related to how Chinese – based companies can be successful in doing business in the United States, with a focus on companies involved in the automotive sector.
Mr. Lu Yi delivered the welcome remarks and addressed that CGCC Automotive Committee is a great forum for Chinese automotive companies to come together and share experiences and learning to support the collective goal of greater cooperation between the U.S. and China.
Mr. Zhao Weiping, Consul General of China in Chicago attended as the special guest and delivered keynote speech to the audience expressed the consistant support from the Consulate General to CGCC Automotive Committee and all Chinese investment in the Mid-west of the U.S.
Also attending were representatives of the U.S. Department of Commerce and the Michigan Economic Development Corporation.
Speakers included David Wang, President of YanFeng USA and Wayne Xing from China Business Update. Panel discussions included topics ranging from Supply Chain Management to Mergers and Acquisitions with representatives from Foley, Deloitte, Wayne State University, Jun He Law Offices and Business Development Asia, all experienced in working with Chinese companies doing business in the U.S.
Attendees included a number of automotive suppliers and partners, including firms such as Fawer USA, China Automotive, Inc., SG Technology, Inc., Fuyao Automotive N.A. and many others.
“All CGCC members have one thing in common – we all are invested in the success of the North American automotive market and we believe in the potential for this market to continue to thrive and for Chinese companies to be valuable contributors to this success.” said Mr. Yi Lu. “The CGCC Automotive Committee is a great forum for us to come together and share experiences and learning to support our collective goal of greater cooperation between the U.S. and China.”
Warren Clark, Deloitte’s Chinese Services leader in the Central Region, commented that, “Events such as this one help facilitate communication between Chinese and U.S. companies, and various levels of government . . . all in an effort to continue the development of China – U.S. trade and economic relations.”
