About YMCA’s 24th Annual Dragon Boat Team Challenge Event

Celebrating 24 years rowing for a cause, the YMCA Dragon Boat Team Challenge benefits the Y’s Annual Campaign,    which ensures the Y can offer unique opportunities for families to come together in a safe place, create a welcoming environment for all, and ensure that everyone has access to our YMCA and its programs, regardless of age, income, background or circumstance. The YMCA is not just a place, but a purpose. Every dollar raised is an investment in our community and our future. We row so dreams can grow!

The Y is a powerful association of men, women and children of all ages and from all walks of life joined together by a shared passion: to strengthen the foundations of community. With a commitment to nurturing the potential of children, promoting healthy living and fostering a sense of social responsibility, the Y ensures that every individual has access to essentials needed to learn, grow and thrive. The Y has long-standing relationships and physical presence not just to promise, but to deliver lasting, personal and social change. Though the world may be unpredictable, one thing remains certain - the Y is, and always will be, dedicated to building healthy, confident, secure and connected children, families and communities.

These funds allow us to serve families who have limited resources: We provide financial assistance so these families can grow stronger in spirit, mind and body and experience and participate YMCA Membership Wellness and Fitness Classes, Y Swim Lesson, Y Youth Sports, Y Child Care, Y After School Care, Y Summer Day Camp, Y Teen Programs, Y Adult Sports and so much more. Based on the need, many of these programs are provided at no charge to these families.

At our YMCA Caring Community Centers, where most families live at below poverty level, we provide a variety of programs and services at no charge to these families including Food Pantry, ESL Classes, Summer Camp, After School Program, Swim Lessons, Youth Sports, School Supplies, Holiday Gift Program and more. We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to achieve their fullest potential.
