Albany, NY, May 24, 2022 -- A small cohort of representatives from China General Chamber of Commerce-USA (CGCC) member companies were proud to attend a reception celebrating Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month at the Executive Mansion in Albany.

Hosted by Governor Kathy Hochul, the reception is part of a larger celebration of the diversity and strength of the AAPI community during the month of May. "New York State is proud to join in the national celebration of AAPI Heritage Month," Governor Hochul addressed the audience in a keynote. "New York is home to over 1.4 million members of the Asian American and Pacific Islander community and this month we honor all of their contributions to our state and nation."

Along with the proclamation issued on May 2nd, Governor Hochul announced a series of appointments and measures to help combat the tremendous challenges and increased hatred and violence faced by the greater AAPI community in New York. She reiterated that “Here in New York, our diversity is our strength, and we will always stand with our AAPI neighbors to combat Asian hate and work to ensure they feel safe on our streets, in our subways and in our homes.”

As the largest independent, non-governmental chamber of commerce serving the U.S-China business community, CGCC stands in solidarity with the AAPI community and will continue to stand up against all kinds of hatred and violence. CGCC was proud to join other active members and supporters of the greater AAPI community at the reception.

CGCC would like to especially thank the Governor’s Deputy Chief of Staff, Linda Sun, for involving CGCC in this meaningful reception.
