China General Chamber of Commerce -USA (CGCC) is closely monitoring the rapidly evolving situation regarding the Coronavirus epidemic (COVID-19). We are in constant dialogue with our American and Chinese members to understand the impact the disease is having on their business, both here in the U.S. and overseas, as well as how we can best support them during this period of uncertainty.
The US and China have a long and often complicated relationship, but this is an opportunity for us to put aside these differences and work together to overcome the global health crisis. As the largest and most influential non-profit organization representing Chinese enterprises in the U.S., CGCC is dedicated to supporting its members, as well as relief efforts in China. We have already raised $141,597.87 through our Foundation, to purchase medical supplies for those affected in China. Through our advanced network at the local, subnational and federal level, we are able to ensure that supplies reach those most in need, at prime health systems with immediate response.
It is important to remember that while the health concern around Coronavirus is real, we need to ensure that the spread of misinformation about the disease is minimized, to help protect the Chinese people and wider Asian communities. The world is becoming more and more interconnected and collaboration will be essential if we are to overcome bigger issues such as climate change, global security and market stability.
