U.S.-China Business Leaders and Companies Announced as Honorees Ahead of the CGCC 2021 Gala Celebrating “New Beginnings” featured image

General Chamber of Commerce – USA (CGCC) is proud to announce the awardees for
its 2021 “New Beginnings” Lunar New Year of the Ox Gala. The awards
recognize prominent business leaders and companies that went above and beyond
in responding proactively to the tumultuous events of 2020, such as the
coronavirus pandemic, ongoing economic hardship, and U.S.-China tensions, to
protect their stakeholders and provide critical support for the larger
community.

The prestigious awards will be presented during the CGCC 2021 Gala on Wednesday, February 10th, 2021 at 8:00pm ET. This year’s gala will consist of an engaging online program reaching millions globally via our international media platform. The event will be inviting everyone - from CGCC member companies to friends in the U.S.-China business community - to celebrate the Lunar New Year of the Ox and welcome all the “New Beginnings” in 2021.

Goodwill Ambassador for China-U.S. Exchange Award

The Goodwill
Ambassador for China-U.S. Exchange Award recognizes a visionary and dedicated
leader for his or her keen discernment and strategic commitment towards a
constructive China-U.S. relationship. 

This year, CGCC
is honored to present this award to Mr. Evan G. Greenberg, Chairman and CEO
of Chubb
. Chubb’s history in China began in 1792 when the Insurance Company
of North America, now a Chubb company, began providing insurance protection to
the pioneers of trade between the two countries. As the first U.S. insurance
company to conduct business in China, Chubb has long understood the Chinese
market, using its global expertise and local acumen to provide insurance
coverage to China’s companies and people. An industry leader with over 40 years
of experience, Mr. Greenberg has long promoted active U.S.- China exchange at
all levels, advocating for productive business collaboration between the
nations.  Mr. Greenberg is vice-chair of
the National Committee on United States-China Relations and a director of the
US-China Business Council.

International Leadership Award

The International
Leadership Award recognizes a leader in the public or business
field who has made significant contributions to promote high industry
standards, improve the business environment, and fulfill outstanding social
responsibilities.

This year the award honors Mr. Haijiang Zhou, Chairman and CEO of HOdo Group. Founded in 1957, HOdo is a leading brand in the Chinese garment industry and the HOdo Group has been ranked among the Top 100 Chinese Private Enterprises for years. Six decades later, it has developed into a multinational conglomerate with product line expanded from knitwear to apparel, tires, real estate, and biopharmaceuticals. Under Mr. Zhou’s leadership, the company has deeply committed to the core strategy of innovation spanning production, supply chain management, marketing operation and corporate social responsibilities. With a global vision and comprehensive perspectives on industry transformation and upgrade, Mr. Zhou spearheaded HOdo’s international operations which are dedicated to integrating advanced technology and international management elements. Mr. Zhou also focused on public welfare with donations of 300 million yuan ($45.7 million dollars) for disaster and poverty relief to date. This year in particular, Mr. Zhou has made personal donations of 10 million yuan (more than $1.5 million) and led HOdo’s PPE production transformation to support the battle against the global pandemic.

Outstanding Community Contribution Award

The Outstanding Community Contribution Award aims to highlight companies and organizations that are actively seeking solutions to challenges facing our communities and actively spearheading the transformation to a better future.  From corporate social responsibility efforts to corporate citizenship, this year’s award honors businesses that worked closely with CGCC and CGCC Foundation to leverage their resources, expertise, and talents to make a positive impact in assisting customers, employees, and the larger community affected by the COVID-19 global pandemic. 

The awardees are (listed in alphabetical order) : Bank of China USA, BYD Motors LLC, China Construction America, China Mobile International (USA) Inc., China Telecom (Americas) Corporation, China International Capital Corporation, Fosun Foundation, Fuyao Glass America, Inc., Hainan Airlines, Hubei Baiyunbian Group, ICBC U.S. Region, SANY America, SF International, State Grid US, and Wanxiang America Corporation.    

CGCC expresses its utmost appreciation to these outstanding community contributors, as they continue to not only confront the economic and health challenges of 2020 but also help pave the way for new beginnings in 2021.
