NEW YORK, November 16th, 2021— The China General Chamber of Commerce - USA (CGCC), the largest and most impactful non-profit, non-partisan and non-governmental organization representing Chinese enterprises in the U.S., congratulates President Biden and President Xi on a successful virtual meeting last Monday. The two leaders conducted a comprehensive and in-depth exchange over both strategic and fundamental issues concerning bilateral relations. The meeting sent a positive and well-overdue signal relating to U.S.- China economic and trade cooperation.

With a mission to create value, generate economic growth, and enhance cooperation between the U.S. and Chinese business communities, CGCC is encouraged by the “upgraded fast-track arrangement” which will further strengthen economic and trade exchanges between the U.S. and China, which will no doubt deliver a boost to the recovery of both economies.

“This ‘candid, constructive, substantive, and productive’ meeting brings positive energy and hope to the international community regarding U.S.-China relations while providing increased reassurance for steadfast Chinese investors in the U.S.,” said Chen Xu, Chairman of CGCC and President & CEO of Bank of China U.S.A. Chinese companies will continue to be confident and committed to the U.S. market.

CGCC’s 2021 Annual Business Survey Report On Chinese Enterprises in the U.S. indicated that in 2020, the operation and investment activities of Chinese-funded enterprises in the United States have been severely challenged by the COVID-19 pandemic and the uncertainty of U.S.- China relations. However, the majority of Chinese enterprises have withstood the pressure, actively adjusting their strategies, and overcoming difficulties with "flexibility" and "resilience". They are cautiously optimistic about the prospects of the U.S.-China relationship and economic and trade exchanges.

As the Chinese saying goes “Long and difficult as the journey may be, sustained actions will take us to the destination”. It is our hope that this meeting will promote stability and improve the business environment for Chinese enterprises in the United States and consolidate the foundation for the relaxation of bilateral relations and the strengthening of economic and trade cooperation.

CGCC will continue to be the bridge connecting business exchanges and cooperation between China and the United States, and we eagerly look forward to continued dialogue between the U.S. and China.
