
On May 25, 2017, the China General Chamber of Commerce – Houston and Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Houston jointly held the conference lunch: “Outcomes of The China US Presidents’ Meeting and the Belt and Road Forum for International Corporation” at Hotel Zaza in Houston. Consul General Qiangmin Li was invited to introduce the outcomes of the China-US presidents’ meeting and to demonstrate the impacts of the Belt and Road Forum. The event was attended by more than 300 distinguished guests from both public and private sectors.
Consul General Qiangmin Li expressed that the meeting between the two presidents received worldwide attention greatly. It sent a positive message to the rest of the world, in addition to encouraging cooperation between the two countries— whose common interests far outweigh their differences.
Furthermore, Consul General Qiangmin Li also expressed that the historic meeting between President Xi Jinping and President Trump will advance Sino-U.S relations, in addition to bringing more opportunities for cooperation and investment between both sides of the Pacific. He also emphasized the endeavors of the Belt and Road Initiative, that through seeking complementarities with other connectivity initiatives, new opportunities will be provided; thus, spurring an impetus for international cooperation. This in turn works toward a globalization that is open, inclusive and beneficial to all. The initiative also aims to build a partnership that jointly strives ease conflicts in the Middle East, additionally advancing safety and security.
The Chairman of CGCC – Houston, Shaolin Li, stated that this event provides a better understanding of the historic significance of the meeting between the presidents and the Belt and Road Forum. International companies will have new business opportunities, which contributes to the economic development of both sides of the Pacific.
During the conference, Consul General Qiangmin Li, and Deputy Consul Yumin Zhao, answered questions posed by the audience. U.S. Congressman Al Green also sent a special representative to send a letter of congratulations regarding the outcomes of the meeting between the two presidents.
