2nd National Forum on CFIUSAnne W. Salladin, Special Counsel at Stroock & Stroock & Lavan LLP, will be speaking at the American Conference Institute's 2nd National Forum on CFIUS and serve as co-chair of the program.The event, sponsored by the American Conference Institute, will take place on July 21, 2015 in Washington, DC.

Ms. Salladin will give the opening remarks and participate in the panel discussion "Updating Your CFIUS Strategic Planning for Inbound Investments from Asia: What theRalls Case and Recent Developments Reveal about CFIUS Requirements, Timeframe and the Impact of Export Control Reform."

The panel will address the following topics, among others:

  • Analyzing recent trends: The rise in Chinese vs. the decrease in EU filings
  • The expected and unexpected ways in which CFIUS can come into play: The new, expanding range of affected industries and transactions
  • Addressing heightened sensitivities involving inbound investment from China
  • Determining whether the investor is a private or state-owned/ controlled entity
  • Managing political sensitivities and how to plan for them in advance
  • Assessing potential national security risks posed by the acquirer combined with capabilities of the target company
  • How export control reform has affected the CFIUS process, including mitigation agreements
