Jiang Heping is a veteran executive in China’s media industry. He is currently the President for CGTN America, CGTN’s chief production center in North America, based in Washington D.C. Mr. Jiang studied English language and international journalism at Shanghai International Studies University, and received MA in Journalism at the University of Wales, Cardiff. Mr. Jiang began his career in CCTV’s International News Division and became Director of the Foreign Language News Department in 2000, in the role of which he oversaw the launch of CCTV-9, the first all-English language news channel in China. In 2005 he became Director of CCTV Sports Programming Centre and in 2006 Director of CCTV Sports Channel. Mr. Jiang was responsible for the reshaping of the Sports Channel in preparation for 2008 Beijing Olympics, and the launch of CCTV-5+, CCTV’s HD channel designated to broadcast top international sporting events. During his leadership CCTV conducted extensive coverage on major international sporting events such as the 2008 Beijing Olympics and FIFA World Cups.
