Lisa Ledbetter advises domestic and international financial institutions in navigating complex and novel regulatory, transactional, and enforcement challenges. Lisa provides strategic advice on commercial and retail bank regulation and financial technology and counsels financial institutions and non-bank companies on new business products and services and compliance issues. Lisa is experienced in responding to civil investigative demands, conducting internal investigations, and defending agency enforcement actions. She advises on bank equity investments and activities, Volcker Rule limitations, liquidity, capital and business planning, fintech, cybersecurity, anti-money laundering, and credit and debit cards. She represents several national financial services trade associations, assisting with public positions and comments on domestic and cross-border issues. Prior to Jones Day, Lisa was deputy general counsel at Freddie Mac and deputy office director and head of regulation, legislation, assessments, finance, and funding at the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). She previously served as banking and finance counsel at Department of the Treasury during the George H.W. Bush administration and as regulatory counsel for the American Bankers Association and Independent Community Bankers Association representing the interests of small, regional, and large banks. Lisa is recognized as a notable practitioner in financial technology for 2019 and 2020 by Chambers. She was featured in The Secured Lender "Women in FinTech" March 2019 issue. Lisa is the sole District of Columbia recipient of the International Law Office's 2018 Client Choice Award for Banking and serves on the by invitation only Banking Law Section of the Federal Bar Association. She is immediate past-Chancellor of the Exchequer Club of Washington, D.C.
