China Center New York Hosted a Gift-giving Ceremony with the Ambassador Zhang Qiyue

(Reported by Liming Guan, China Press, May 18th New York) Ms. Zhang Qiyue, Consul General of China in New York has graciously gifted the three sheep sculpture to China Center New York before its official opening. The three sheep sculpture, previously displayed in the Empire State Building to celebrate Chinese culture, will find its permanent home at China Center New York. A gift-giving ceremony titled “Three Sheep Bring Bliss” was hosted by China Center New York at the 64th Floor “Sky Lobby” in the One World Trade Center on the morning of May 18th. About 40 important friends and partners, whom are also leaders in their fields, were invited to this exclusive event.

During the event, Ms. Zhang Qiyue pointed out that in the year of sheep, the three sheep represent auspiciousness in Chinese culture, which made this piece of art work a perfect gift to wish China Center New York best of luck in its future endeavors. Meanwhile, she thanked the Partnership for New York City, and the other organizations that focus on China-US relations for helping the Chinese companies to establish footholds in the US. She also indicated that Chairman Xi will visit the US in September and attend the United Nations summit this year, so it would be a great opportunity for him to meet with business elites and politicians in New York.

Ms. Kathryn S. Wylde, President and CEO of Partnership for New York City also attended the event. She addressed that China Center New York is the first visionary Chinese company to foresee the prospect and influence of the One World Trade Center, long before many of the American companies, and therefore it became the first tenant to sign the lease. She pointed out that since Charlie Jiang, CEO of Vantone Holdings and China Center New York came on board and repositioned the project, China Center New York is now much more aligned with the China-US business, tourism and culture interests. It is in New York’s interest to stay on the forefront of China-US relationship, and the business community here will be very proud to welcome Chairman Xi’s visit in September.

Charlie Jiang, CEO of China Center New York and CEO of Vantone Holdings, expressed sincere gratitude for the great support from Ms. Zhang Qiyue, Partnership of New York City, Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, the Durst Organization as well as the other important partners. He also looks forward to working together with all the partners to participate in the events hosted to greet Chariman Xi’s visit in New York, and to help strengthen the synergy for China-US business exchange.

Foyer, Executive Director of Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, Douglas Durst, Chairman of Durst Organization which is the operator of One World Trade Center, Eric Affeldt, CEO of ClubCorp, Ellis Rubinstein, President and CEO of The New York Academy of Sciences, Xu Chen, Chairman of China General Chamber of Commerce – USA, and Ms. Liu Yi, Commercial Counselor Consul, Consulate General of China in New York also attended the event and gave speeches.

After the ceremony, accompanied by Charlie Jiang, Ms. Zhang Qiyue and the other guests visited China Center New York future space on the 89th floor.
