Dear CGCC Members and Friends,
We all continue to watch the news related to COVID-19 and its impact in the U.S. and around the world. As the number of COVID-19 cases continues to climb throughout the United States, all of us at CGCC have been doing our part to help flatten the curve while offering resources to various companies to mitigate the various impacts on our members. I would like to personally update you on the proactive steps we are taking to support our local communities and ensure we stay connected during these unprecedented times.
Since we first initiated the CGCC U.S. Medical Supply Donation and Information Sharing Effort on March 12th, 2,472,869 pieces of personal protective equipment (PPE) with a total value of $1,869,964, both imported from China and procured domestically, have already been delivered to various hospitals throughout the U.S. In an effort to express our sincere gratitude to all the healthcare workers heroically working on the frontlines of this pandemic, and the sacrifices they continue to endure for the safety and the well-being of all affected by the virus, the CGCC Board of Directors has decided to donate all 2020 membership dues to the CGCC Foundation to support our COVID-19 Medical Supply Donation and Information Sharing Effort.
As most of us are adapting to less physical interaction and greater social distancing, I’d like to bring your attention to a variety of new and innovative initiatives our staff has proudly developed. Part of the U.S.-China Business Community Ecosystem, CGCC E-Connects and the “CGCC Database Edit-a-thon” are enabling all of our members to continue to share, interact and collaborate remotely.
CGCC also recognizes that there has been a significant increase in anti-China rhetoric, xenophobic violence, and other negative statements made in the general public, media and government domains. Undoubtedly, this has the potential to exacerbate the challenges raised and still remaining from the US-China trade war. We are monitoring the situation and responding accordingly both publicly and privately at the local and national levels. We are also working cooperatively with officials and other non-profits that stand in solidarity with our mission to protect Chinese businesses and Chinese people here in the U.S. During this difficult time, CGCC’s mission of “Connecting People, Building Trust and Expanding Cooperation” has never been more critical. We are committed to continuing to assess the situation and share valuable resources on a daily basis to help our members and friends navigate this period of tragic loss and uncertainty.
From all of us here at CGCC USA, we hope you and your loved ones remain safe and healthy. We are all in this fight together, and we will persevere to make tomorrow a better day for our communities, our nations and markets around the globe.
