On September 7th, China General Chamber of Commerce-USA (CGCC), CGCC Foundation, and China Construction America co-hosted “2019 The 10th CCA Cup Table Tennis Invitational” at the Lily Yip Table Tennis Center in Dunellen, New Jersey. Over 70 contestants and 15 teams from CGCC member companies and partners traveled from all across the United States for a day of friendly competition and sportsmanship.
CGCC was honored to have Ambassador Huang Ping, Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in New York join the event and give brief remarks as well as present the awards to the competition winners.
The tournament opened with welcoming remarks from XU Chen, Chairman of CGCC, President and CEO of Bank of China USA. YUAN Ning, Vice-Chairman of CGCC, President and CEO of China Construction America also gave brief remarks, highlighting the growth of the CCA Cup and expressing his appreciation to participants and organizers.
Ambassador WU Haitao, Deputy Permanent Representative of China to the United Nations (UN), GU Chunfang, Economic and Commercial Counselor of the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in New York, and ZHOU Xiaozheng, Xinhua News Agency North America Branch Director joined over 150 participants at this tournament.
All participants could choose to compete in one or more of the following categories: Team competition, Singles of 40-years-old and above, and Singles under 40-years-old.
The Permanent Mission of China to the UN were crowned champions of the Team competition. Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (USA) (ICBC) was the first runner-up, the Consulate General of China in New York and China Ocean Shipping (Group) Company (COSCO) won the second runners-up.
Richard Ma from COSCO won the “Singles of 40-years-old and above” competition. HE Zhenshan from ICBC USA was the first runner-up, while WANG Dawei from the Permanent Mission of China to the UN and WAN Fang from Xinhua News Agency North America were the second runners-up.
In the “Singles under 40-years-old” competition, WANG Qinmin from Bank of China USA was crowned the champion, ZHOU Tianyi from Xinhua News Agency North America was the first runner-up, and ZUO Kezhi from Galaxy3 LLC and XU Zhengyang from China Telecom Americas Corporation were the second runners-up.
Over 40 years ago, Ping-pong served an important role in the establishment of the China-U.S. diplomatic relationship. Today, it continues to bridge Chinese enterprises in the U.S. and their American partners, making people-to-people exchanges and improving communication between members of the two business communities.
Since 2009, The CCA Cup Table Tennis Invitational has developed into a CGCC signature event among member companies and partners. With the support from this community, each year CGCC co-hosts the invitational as a unique opportunity for Chinese enterprises and relevant organizations to network, build friendship, and promote a healthy lifestyle.
