On August 3rd, the 32nd New York Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival took place at Meadows Corona Park in Flushing, Queens. This multicultural celebration and sporting event featured over 180 dragon boat teams from diverse backgrounds competing over two days. The festival not only highlighted the vibrant dragon boats, fostering cultural exchange between China and the West, but also exemplified the sportsmanship of teamwork, collaboration, and determination. For the second year in a row, Bank of China’s New York Branch supported the Dragon Boat Festival, sending two employee teams to compete. President Hu Wei and other branch leaders attended the event, cheering on the teams alongside employees and their families.
The two dragon boat teams from the New York Branch, made up of employees from various departments, trained intensively for months. On the second day, in the corporate invitation race, the branch teams demonstrated outstanding collaboration and dedication. Amidst the intense competition, the announcement of Bank of China in the Top 3 was met with cheers and excitement from the crowd.
Beyond the thrilling dragon boat races, the event featured many food stands and booths from various local community sponsors. Attendees enjoyed a range of cultural performances, including lion and dragon dances, Shaolin kung fu, as well as craft exhibitions and Asian cuisine. The interaction between employees and the community was lively, attracting many local residents to participate and enhancing the bank’s brand recognition and reputation in the area.
Leveraging the Dragon Boat Festival sponsorship, the New York Branch also organized a picnic for employees and their families.
